HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN YOU HUNT?
Each Captain/guide can hunt up to 6.  If your party is over 6 NO PROBLEM, you will have more than 1 guide.

WHAT ARE THE SEASONS?
We hunt geese September through February.  Ducks are one week in October and November through January.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO HUNT?
Canada Geese: September through February.  Our Goose Guides are always “ON THE BIRDS”
Sea Ducks:   November through January    Diving Ducks:  December through January

HOW DO I GET A LICENSE AND HOW MUCH?
WE RECOMMEND GETTING YOUR 3 DAY LICENSE 1 WEEK BEFORE YOUR HUNT.  That way if the weather is bad we can reschedule.

YOU WILL NEED A FEDERAL DUCK STAMP PLUS A 3 DAY NON-RESIDENT LICENSE AND A MARYLAND DUCK STAMP AND HIP STAMP.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
Waders or waterproof pants if you are doing layout boat hunt!  Other than that your normal duck hunting stuff.  You will not be getting in the water!  Camera, shells and warm waterproof clothing!

WHAT SHELLS SHOULD I BRING?
We use #3-4 shot for ALL our duck hunts and BB-3 shot on goose hunts.

WHAT HOTEL SHOULD I STAY AT?
We recommend staying in the Annapolis area.  Many of our hunters stay at the Quality Inn which is located at 1542 Whitehall Road, Annapolis, MD  21409 – Phone: 410-974-4440.

DO YOU RENT GUNS?
N0.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?
We welcome you to bring your TRAINED retriever on your hunt, provided we know in advance.  For the safety of our hunters and the safety of your dog, all dogs must be steady to shot and be controlled 100% of the time.  Unmanageable dogs will be immediately kenneled for the remainder of the hunt.  Single hunters may NOT bring a dog if they are hunting with other hunters or groups.

WHAT AIRPORT DO I FLY INTO?
Dulles, National or BWI are all close.

WHAT IS THE WEATHER?
We hope it is a little cold and windy to make the birds MOVE!  November is usually 40-70, December 20-50 and January 10-50 degrees.

WHAT DAYS DO YOU HUNT AND HOW LONG WILL THE HUNT LAST?
We hunt everyday but SUNDAY.  We meet at 5-6 am and have you back at the boat ramp or out of the field by around NOON.

DO YOU COMBINE PARTIES?
Yes and No.  We do have a MINIMUM per day so if that is paid then NO.  We welcome single hunters and we try to put a party together most every week for them.

DO THE GUIDES SHOOT?
Again Yes and NO.  They are going to ensure all cripples are dispatched ASAP!  Other than cripples – usually not.

TIPPING?  HOW MUCH?
The norm is 15% per hunter per day.  Our guides spend days getting ready before the season and hours getting ready before your hunt!

DEPOSITS?
50% due when your book your hunt.

We can't guarantee weather or when the birds will fly, some things you just can't control. For water hunts, we reserve the right to reschedule or may offer you a field hunt option if the water is at a dangerous level due to heavy rain or winds. Your safety and the safety of our guides is our primary concern.

Deposits:

50% deposit due at time of booking. Balance due when you arrive for your hunt. Due to limited availability and the advanced planning needed to ensure a quality trip, we are unable to refund any payments. We will be happy to reschedule and answer any questions regarding this policy.

Cancellation Policy:

Black Duck Outfitters reserves the right to cancel and refund hunts up to 20 days in advance for any reason.
